The casting of her as the Werewolf Maia Roberts in Freeform's fantasy show Shadowhunters, which is based off of Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series of books, was announced on September 16 in 2016. Following her appearance as a regular character in season 2, she was made a Series regular for season 3. Wainwright plays a part on Raising Dion, a Netflix original show. She has two stepsisters.
